Initial Quantitative Studies on Spores Germination and Appressorium Formation of Alternaria brassicae
The study adopted a conventional epidemic experiment on spores germination and appressorium formation. The results showed that spores of Alternaria brassicae can germinate easily in pure water,a few spores can germinate after 2 hours of immersion, and the spores of Alternaria brassicae can germinate over 90% after 10 hours. Each cell may germinate and form the tube, and elongate to different directions. The rate of appressorium can be over 50 % after 20 hours.Substance in the leaf surface and pollen can accelerate the germination of spores. The spores don't have strong ability to resist drying condition, the germinated spores completely died after 4 hours in drying condition. The temperature of the sporulation and appressorium formation were both about 10 ~ 25 ℃.It was at 15 ℃ that the ratio of spores germination and the rate of appressorium formation were the highest. The spores cannot sporulate over 40℃.
