Effects of Maize Straw Incorporation on Content of Organic Carbon and Stability of Aggregates in Chernozem Derived from Different Parent Materials
The typical chernozem developed from two kinds of soil parent materials in Jilin province was selected to analyze the accumulation of soil organic carbon and stability of aggregates after add-ing different proportion of maize straw(0,0.5%,1%,2%,3%,5%,10%and 15%).The result showed the organic carbon content of LLC-Ap,LMC-Ap and LHC-Ap was increased by 0.28-4.67 times,0.06-3.14 times and 0.07-2.10 times with the increase of maize straw application,respec-tively.And the organic carbon content of RLC1-Ap,RLC2-Ap and RHC-Ap was increased by 0.18-4.00 times,0.28-3.99 times and 0.06-2.82 times, respectively. The organic carbon content of LC and RC was increased by 1.41-37.80 times and 1.48-38.23 times. The soil with less content of or-ganic carbon had greater potential for carbon sequestration. The carbon sequestration potential of the parent materials was greater than that of surface soils.Meanwhile, the mean weight diameter(MWD)of aggregates in different types of soil was gradually increased with the increased content of maize straw application. For the treatments with the same content of straw application, the MWD values of aggregates in different types of soil followed the order of LLC-Ap<LMC-Ap<LHC-Ap,RLC1-Ap<RLC2-Ap<RHC-Ap and LC<RC,which was consistent with the order of organic carbon content in each soil. The results indicated that the addition of maize straw obviously improved the stability of soil aggregates. The stability of soil aggregates was stronger with larger amount of maize straw appli-cation.In conclusion, the content of organic carbon in chernozem was increased to some extent and the stability of soil aggregates was strengthened.
