Growth Characteristics of the Pacific White Shrimp Litopenaeus van-namei in Polyculture Ponds of Grass Carp Ctenopharyngodon idella
In order to understand the growth characteristics of the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei in polyculture pond of grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella, three common candidate growth models-the von Bertalanffy,Logistic and Gompertz were fitted to model growth of L.vanna-mei.The growth parameters of these models were estimated using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. To determine the most suitable model, two different criteria were used:adjusted R2 and the Akaike in-dex criterion(AIC).The results showed that body weight vs body length relationship of L.vannamei was W=0.012 83L2.959 5(R2=0.989 7),which presented isometric growth(b=3).According to adjusted R2 and AIC,the Gompertz growth model provided the best fit to the data for L.vannamei combined with the actual production results, and its body length and body weight growth function were Lt=15.863 4e-e-0.023 6(t-52.629 9)and Wt=45.798 1e-10.247 4e-0.023 6t separately. The age at the inflection point of body length growth curve was 52.6 days, and the body length at the inflection point was 5.835 8 cm.The age at the inflection point of body weight growth curve was 98.6 days, and the body weight at the in-flection point was 16.847 1 g.The results show that the application of the Gompertz model can accu-rately describe the growth characteristics of L.vannamei under polyculture conditions.
