The intangible heritage associated with dragon dance sports holds a significant place within China's cultural heritage, primarily found in rural communities. The comprehensive exploration, effective preservation, and responsible utilization of these intangible heritage resources are crucial for promoting traditional culture, advancing rural revitalization initiatives, and contributing to the nation's sports power. This study employs GIS tools to unveil the spatial distribution patterns of dragon dance sports intangi-ble heritage resources and constructs a model that considers various factors influencing their distribution within a social-ecosystem(SES)framework.The results showed as follows:1)Dragon dance sports intangible heritage resources exhibit spatial concentra-tion,with the highest density centered in southeast Sichuan and western Chongqing.Concentrated pockets are also observed in eastern Sichuan, western Qianbei, central and southern Guangdong, southern Jiangsu, and northern Zhejiang.2)The spatial dis-tribution of dragon dance sports intangible heritage resources is influenced by a combination of factors, encompassing ecosystem dynamics,socio-economic and political conditions, and cultural backgrounds.Notable influential factors include population den-sity,policy directives, the presence of traditional villages, and the availability of museums.3)Embracing a holistic protection ap-proach and a "double innovation"development strategy, this study suggests several measures for advancing the preservation and promotion of dragon dance sports in the modern era. These include digital empowerment through the establishment of a digital re-pository for dragon dance sports intangible heritage resources, governmental support through the formulation of standardized man-agement policies, and fostering diversified collaborations to construct an integrated protection model for these valuable intangible heritage resources.
