Research on the Traditional Cofferdam Design of Dujiangyan
The Dujiangyan irrigation system has benefited Sichuan for millennia,with its traditional cofferdam design originating from the pre-Qin period.This design embodies the characteristics of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and has profoundly influenced the lives of local people.Through field investigations and comparative analysis of historical records,this study examines the appearance,form,materials,and construction methods of Dujiangyan's traditional cofferdams.It explores the impact of various factors,such as geomorphology,hydrology,environmental ecology,and human ingenuity,on their functional structure,creation logic,and application scenarios.The excellent design of the traditional cofferdams at Dujiangyan reflects the advanced views of nature,craftsmanship,and science held by ancient people.It demonstrates the ingenuity and pragmatic attitudes of Dujiangyan's ancestors,who adapted to their environment and made the best use of available resources,creating new cultural symbols and folk contexts unique to the region.
