Dance Performance Techniques and Skills:The Differences,Transformation, and Unification of Imagination,Emotion, and Movement—Using Plié,Tendu, and Fondu as Examples
In contemporary dance, the emphasis on executing movements often overshadows emotional expression, resulting in a prevalent mind-body dualism in dancers'performances. The primary issues are twofold:first, dancers develop a long-term reliance on formal thinking through traditional training;second, dancers fail to cultivate the awareness of using imagination and emotional thinking.A truly moving dance performance is a holistic system composed of imagination, emotion, and movement.Although imagination, emotion, and movement differ conceptually, dancers can unify and transform these elements through the application of techniques and skills, providing pathways and methods for achieving integrated mind-body performances.Starting from the phenomenon of mind-body separation and emotional deficiency in contemporary dance performances, this study uses Plié,Tendu, and Fondu as examples to explore the issues in dancers'performances. It aims to delve into the intrinsic relationships among imagination, emotion, and movement, striving to help contemporary dancers overcome the dualistic performance dilemma.
