Adaptive Reuse Design of Southern Fujian Red Brick Houses:A Case Study of Ancient Houses in Yongning Town,Shishi City,Quanzhou
Southern Fujian red brick houses are iconic traditional dwellings in the southern Fujian region,which have absorbed diverse regional cultural influences based on the maritime Silk Road's exchange and trade,presenting an aesthetic philosophy that integrates artistry and commerce.In recent years,under the influence of the"Belt and Road"initiative,the region has intensified efforts to preserve traditional architectural groups while actively promoting the development and utilization of traditional dwellings.This study focuses on the red brick houses in Yongning Town,Quanzhou,as a case for adaptive reuse design.The design process takes contemporary functional needs into account,utilizes smart software technology,and respects historical context.The aim is to reconstruct the house layouts and architectural appearance while incorporating elements of Nanyang cultural style,creating a comfortable and livable residential environment.The research on this design plan will further promote the transformation of traditional housing construction methods,and with a more open approach,integrate foreign cultural essence,paving new pathways for the restoration and renovation of ancient houses in rural towns of the southern Fujian area.
