When Comrade Xi Jinping served as the chairman of the School Board of Jimei University,he put for-ward several important instructions on the ideological and political work of Jimei University with its own characteris-tics,including"establishing a school with Tan Kah-kee Spirit and fostering talents with the sincerity and perse-verance"in terms of school-based resources,"opening different locks with different keys"in the aspect of work-ing method innovation,focusing on the ideological and political work of the faculty when grasping key groups,and integrating professional education into ideological and political education to the idea of"combination of production and teaching".The above important instructions are of great contemporary value,because theoretically,they have preliminarily explained the main points of ideological and political work of colleges and universities in the new era;in terms of methodology,they have contained the important idea of"two combinations";in practice,they led the great-leap-forward development of Jimei University in the first two decades of the 21st century.All of these re-present the early local practice of the important exposition by Comrade Xi Jinping on education.
