KAP survey on drug safety of self-medicated residents in Shenzhen
Objective:To investigate the current situation of medication knowledge-attitude-practice(KAP)among self-medicators in Shenzhen, analyze the potential risks and main influencing factors in the process of medication,so as to provide a theoretical basis for the drug regulatory authorities to formulate relevant policies. Methods:A convenient sampling method was used to conduct an online questionnaire survey on the demographic characteristics and medication KAP among self-medicators in Shenzhen through the online questionnaire survey platform(https://www.wjx.cn/).The current status and risk points of KAP in safe drug use among the respondents were analyzed.Univariate chi-square test and multivariate binary Logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors. Results:A total of 1 014 valid questionnaires were collected. The average scores of self-medicators'knowledge,attitude and practice on medication safety were(8.93±1.56),(37.03±4.35)and(34.76±4.24),respectively.Logistic regression results showed that education level and the number of channels of knowledge sources were the main factors affecting medication knowledge(P<0.05).The influencial factors of medication attitude were gender, health status and the number of channels of knowledge sources(P<0.05).Medication practice was affected by gender and the number of channels of knowledge sources(P<0.05).Conclusion:Respondents have a high level of knowledge and attitude towards medication safety, but there are still some potential safety risks in the actual medication practice.Medication education should be further strengthened for specific groups of people(males, people with low educational attainment, and people with illnesses),and the source channels and coverage of drug use safety-related knowledge should be broadened for the public.
