The Similarities and Differences in the Ways between Confucians and Scholars in Pre-Qin Dynasty and the Historical Evaluation
The pre-Qin Confucian scholars and the Zongheng scholars criticize and absorb each other.Seemingly incompatible with each other, the two schools actually have spiritual aspects in common:they are not afraid of suffering and stick to their aspirations, and both have a talent for arguing and are not afraid of royal power. However, there are huge differences in their behavior modes:The Zongheng school focuses on the world of great conflicts and uses practical philosophies to highlight the enterprising spirit;while the Confucian school, however, focuses on the way of the former king and uses the theoretical weapon of benevolence, justice and etiquette, which seems pedantic and sour.In the course of the game, the Zongheng school won and opened the debate of justice and interests belonging to the times. Therefore, through sorting out the similarities and differences between the two schools and the historical evaluation,we can better explore the ideological value and progressive significance of the pre-Qin Zongheng scholars.
