Comparison of effectiveness between HTO and UKA in medial compartment OA
Objective To compare the clinical outcome of HTO and UKA in the treatment of medial compartmental OA so as to provide reference for clinical treatment. Methods 34 cases of medial compartment OA undertaking UKA(UKA group)and 31 cases of HTO(HTO group)from January 2018 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.Biomet Oxford phase Ⅲ unicompartmental knee prosthesis was used in UKA group, and opening wedge osteotomy was used in HTO group.Knee range of motion(ROM),AKS knee score and femorotibial angle(FTA)were selected as the evaluation curative effect. Results There was no significant difference in ROM values between the two groups(t=-0.230,P=0.819).At the final follow-up,there was no significant difference in AKS scores between the two groups(t=0.596,P=0.553).There was no significant difference in FTA values between the two groups(t=1.514,P=0.135).Conclusion Both UKA and HTO have good clinical effectiveness for treating medial compartment OA.The choice of treatment scheme should be based on the type and severity of knee deformity, knee ROM,and postoperative care.
