Investigating the connection between scientific mobility and topic switching:the case of high-impact scholars in the field of human-computer interaction
Scientific mobility and research topic switching are ubiquitous in science,both of which significantly impact performance.Research topic switching reflects the development and exchanges of knowledge and information,which may bring about cross-discipline integration to produce innovative results.Therefore,the causes and settings of topic switching have gradually attracted the attention of scholars.This research focuses on the relationship between scientific mobility and topic switching.The study examines how the flow of researchers affects the topic switching of scholars,with high-impact scientists in the field of human-computer interaction as a case study.The flow of scientific researchers is measured using the curriculum vitae(CV)analysis method,combine Doc2Vec and Affinity Propagation algorithm to identify the research topics,analyze characteristics of researcher flow and topic switching in the field of human-computer interaction,and investigate the relationship between the scientific mobility of different stages and attributes and topic switching by descriptive analysis and statistical analysis.It has been observed that researchers who have a high impact in human-computer interaction tend to move from one institution to another.Scientific mobility and topic switching have a significant positive relationship,from different stages and attributes.The flow in the work stage has more impact on topic switching than the education stage.
