摘要
在救亡图存、强国保种的语境下,晚清画报以"开通风气"为宗旨,刊载大量西方文化科技、社会风物等题材图画,为未出国门的读者勾勒了西方形象,构筑起普通民众对于西方社会的想象空间.经由画报呈现的西方形象,掺杂了办报人与画师的理解和演绎,这种创作理路是办报人群体对域外社会普遍关注与矛盾心理的直接反应.画报对域外社会的书写范式,成为近代知识精英与政府"开民智""造新民"话语策略的重要参照.
Abstract
In the social environment of saving and preserving the nation,the late Qing pictorial aimed to open up the atmosphere and published a large number of pictures of Western culture,technology,and social atmosphere,outlining an image of the West for readers who had not yet gone abroad and constructing a space for ordinary people to imagine Western society.The Western im-ages presented through pictorials are mixed with the understanding and interpretation of the editors and painters.This creative ap-proach is a direct reflection of editors and painters'attention to foreign society and conflicting psychology.The paradigm of pictori-al for Foreign Societies is an important reference for modern intellectual elites and governments in their discourse strategies of"o-pening up people's intelligence"and"creating new people".
