The rapid development of artificial intelligence technology in the generative AI era provides a solid technological foun-dation for the generation and development of college students'intelligent learning assistants.Guided by the instructional interac-tion and cognitive engagement model of connectivist learning,this study focuses on the design framework,practical challenges and construction progress of college students'intelligent learning assistants in the era of generative AI.It finds that the design framework of college students'intelligent learning assistants in the era of generative AI includes three functions:(1)Basic func-tion:as an intelligent platform for knowledge acquisition,providing learners with a friendly learning interaction experience;(2)pre-intermediate function:as an intelligent cockpit for knowledge exchange,supporting learners'in-depth learning and re-search activities;(3)advanced function:as an innovative engine for knowledge production,promoting the students'comprehen-sive and sustainable development.The realistic challenges of intelligent learning assistants for college students in the generative AI era include the dilemma of technical content reliability,the difficulty of interaction and creation,and the ethical dilemma of data.Therefore,the study proposes orientations to the construction of college students'intelligent learning assistants:Integrating diversified resources to improve the Q&A accuracy of intelligent learning assistants;improving intelligent literacy to promote be-nign interactions between teachers and students and intelligent learning assistants;and perfecting policies and standards to guar-antee the smooth operation of intelligent learning assistants.
