Medicine Supply of Eighth Route Army during War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression
During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Eighth Route Army persisted in guerrilla war-fare behind enemy lines, suffering tens of thousands of casualties while wiping out a large number of Japanese invaders and puppet troops. It was extremely important to obtain a continuous and steady supply of medicine. However, because of the mili-tary blockade of the Japanese forces and the KMT,the weak economic foundation in the base areas, and the constraints of the production capacity of the Eighth Route Army, medicine supply was insufficient. To solve this problem, the Eighth Route Ar-my mobilized all sectors of society through various channels, for instance, building plants to make medicine, having multi-path purchasing, receiving extensive social donation and capturing medicine from Japanese and puppet troops. The demand of the wounded for medicine was basically satisfied. In addition, the principle of integrating traditional Chinese medicine and western treatment was established, which provided valuable reference for the formation of policy for health care work construc-tion in new China. In discussing the medicine supply of the Eighth Route Army,we should not only pay attention to materials and technology but also take into account political, social and cultural factors.
