Japan's Comprehensive Survey of Guangxi:An Introduction to Military Local Records in Guangxi Province(Excerpt)
Japan invaded Guangxi twice in 1939 and 1944.Before its second invasion in 1944,the Japanese Army De-partment integrated the intelligence data collected by various forces and compiled An Introduction to Military Local Records in Guangxi Province,and at the same time ordered the forces which had been in the invasion of Guangxi to write a summary of their operations and had the summaries included in it.In this paper,the first and the fourth chapters,and Appendix 1 from An Introduction to Military Local Records in Guangxi Province are excerpted and translated into Chinese.It introduces the his-torical data from these aspects:the strategic value and traffic condition of Guangxi,the experience of the troops participating in Binyang Battle and Nanning Battle,and then proceeds to expound the historical value of the data.
