Further Discussion of Several Issues Concerning Zhaxi(Series)Conference
During the period when the Central Red Army gathered in Zhaxi,the Political Bureau and the Central Revolu-tionary Military Commission held a series of military meetings.Zhaxi(Series)Conference includes Huafangzi Meeting,Zhuangzishang Meeting,Yuanzi Meeting,Jiangxi Hall Meeting,and it should also include Shikanzi Meeting and Dita Meet-ing.While in Zhaxi,the CPC Central Committee carefully observed the situation and constantly made strategic adjustments.Fi-nally,it decided to open up the Yunnan-Guizhou-Sichuan base area,selected northeast Yunnan as the breakthrough point,and planned to destroy the enemy forces in the area of Zhaxi.Later,the changing situation caused it to take decisive action and to cross the Chishui River the second time.As the extreme urgency was to get out of the military predicament,Zhaxi(Series)Conference focused on military countermeasures.The resolutions of Zunyi Conference had been passed,but there had been no time for them to be formally conveyed.Zhaxi Conference has often been regarded as"continuation"of Zunyi Conference,but that fails to fully reflect the vital role of Zhaxi Conference in the Campaign of Crossing the Chishui River the Fourth Time.
