US Planning for Military Landing in China during Pacific War(1941-1945)——An Investigation of US Strategy towards Japan
During the Pacific War,US military planners coordinated the national policy and military strategy, and put forward a series of operational plans to land in the coastal areas of China. The aims of these plans were either to seize ports of entry for supplies,or to control sea and air power along the coast. The differences in the objectives of the planned landing in China reflected differences between the US Army and Navy over strategy towards Japan. With national policy in mind,US planners hoped to reconcile these differences between the two services, and they revised, shelved, and eventually canceled the plans. In a word, the evolution of the wartime plan for landing American troops in China was largely the result of political considerations of US military planners.
