Research progress of pentosan in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
Pentosans are the major component of non-starch polysaccharides in wheat grain.Pensotans are quantitatively minor constituents of wheat, but they influence the nutritional and end-use quality of grain. This paper summarized the latest research progress in wheat pentosan, including the variation of pentosan content among wheat cultivars, its influencing factors and genetic characteristics, the relationship between pentosans and agronomic traits and the effect of pentosans on wheat quality,so as to provide useful information for wheat quality improvement in China.
