Effects of supplementary feeding with un-conventional feeds on slaughter performance, blood biochemical index and meat quality in fattening goats
The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of supplementary feeding with un-conventional feeds on slaughter performance, blood biochemical index and meat quality of goats(Boer goats×Xuhuai goats). A total of 28 healthy goats with an average body weight of (21.27± 2.67) kg were randomly allotted to four groups, with seven replicates per group. Goats were fed four kinds of di-ets,with high concentrate as the control group(proportion of concentrate 70%), diet B, diet C and diet D feeding with un-conventional feeds, which were used as the experi-mental diets. Diet B contained 50% concentrate, diet C contained 20% concentrate, diet D contained 0 concentrate. The un-conventional feed was from soybean hulls, orange peel, vinegar, the corn husk of spray. Concentrate made from corn, soybean meal, bran and wheat. Sheep were fed individually and slaughtered at the end of the experiment(60 days). The results showed dressing percentage under the treatment of diet C and diet D was significant higher than that under the treatments of diet A and diet B(P<0.05),the four treatments had no effect on the loin-eye area (P>0.05). The content of glucose under the treatment of diet C was significant higher than that under the treatments of diet A and diet B(P<0.05),diet A,diet B and diet D was significant higher than that under the treatment of diet C(P<0.05). The contents of HDL-C,LDL-C and total cholesterol in goats under four different treat-ments had no difference (P>0.05). There was no difference on the pH45 min, pH24 hdrip loss, at 12 h, 24 h and 48 h, cooking loss,a?(redness),b?(yellowness),L?(lightness),springiness and cohesiveness under four different treatments (P>0.05),the shear force, hardness and chewiness under the treatment of diet A were significant higher than under four different treatments diet C and diet D (P<0.05). There was no difference on the mutton water and dry matter under four different treatments(P>0.05),the crude ash under the treatment of diet A was significant higher than that under the treat-ments of diet C and diet D (P<0.05), the content of organic matter under the treatment of diet C was significant higher than that under the treatment of diet A(P<0.05),the content of crude protein in goats under four different treatments had no difference (P>0.05),the content of crude fat under the treatments of diet C and diet D was significant higher than that under the treatments of diet A and diet B (P<0.05). It was concluded that supplementary feeding the un-conventional feeds in high concentrate, could improve the goat slaughter performance and meat quality, and it hadn't adverse effects on blood biochemical index, the treatment of diet C (concentrate accounted for 20%) had a better improvement.
