Detection of the FecGE mutation of GDF9 gene in goats and sheep
FecGE mutation was a single base change (G1034T) at the coding region of exon of GDF9 gene in Brazilian Santa Ines sheep which leads to an increase in their ovulation rate and prolificacy.The aim of the present study was to detect the distribution of FecGE mutation of GDF9 gene in Wendeng Dairy,Liaoning Cashmere,Jining Grey,Guizhou White,Banjiao,Chengdu Ma,Jintang Black,Gulin Ma,Dazu Black,Nanjiang Yellow,Matou,Chuandong White,Guanzhong Dairy,Inner Mongolia Cashmere,Shannan White,Taihang,Yaan Dairy,Guishan,Tianfu,Yunling Black,Anhui White,Henan Dairy,Boer,Angora,Saanen Dairy,Nubian goats and in Hu,Small Tail Han,Wadi,Dorper,Black Suffolk and White Suffolk sheep by PCR-RFLP.The results indicated that the FecGE mutation of GDF9 gene was not detected in twenty-six goat breeds and six sheep breeds tested.
