The effect of nutrition in cucumber on antibiosis of aphid
Aphid,as an important pest in cucumber production, seriously affects the yield and quality of cucumber.Screening and utilization of resistant aphid varieties is an effective method to reduce the damage of aphid in cucumber. In this study,we explored the relationship between the inclusions(carbohydrate, soluble proteins and amino acid)in leaves from 13 cucumber cultivars and aphid numbers,in order to establish an efficient method to identify the cucumber aphid-resistance varieties. The results showed thar there were significant positive correlation between the contents of soluble sugar and free prolines in cucumber leaves and the number of aphid. The regression equations were Y=0.000 2X+0.0371(r=0.619 5,P=0.002 1),and Y=0.562 0X+34.032 4(r=0.742 3,P=0.025 1),respectively.The content of soluble protein in leaves of cucumber was not affected by the number of melon aphid.Stepwise regression analysis was performed for soluble sugar(X1)and free prolines(X2);thus,the regression equation and path coefficient were explained as follows:Y=-69.665 0+1 294.747 1X1+0.867 8X2(R2=0.803 6*).These results suggested that the soluble sugar and free prolines in cucumber play important roles in aphid resistance and thus can be used as a standard to identify the re-sistance of cucumber to aphid.
