The selective promotion effect of oligosaccharides on Lactobacillus rhamnosus and L.plantarum
3 commercial strains(Lactobacillus rhamnosus MP108,GG and Bifidobacterium animalis Bb-12)that can be used in infant food and 2 strains of breast milk-derived probiotics(L.rhamnosus M53 and L.plantarum AUH2103)were selected as research objects.Firstly, the ability of probiotics to utilize oligosaccharides was studied, and the selective promotion effect of oligosaccharides on probiotic activity was further explored. The results showed that fructooligosaccha-rides and galactooligosaccharides could significantly promote the growth of L.plantarum AUH2103.Whereas relatively poor growth of L.rhamnosus MP108,GG,M53 and B.animalis Bb-12 was observed on fructooligosaccharides,inulin,2'-fucosyllactose and xylooligosaccharides and they only had better utilization of galactooligosaccharides,of which L.rh-amnosus MP108 had the best utilization ability.L.plantarum AUH2103 and L.rhamnosus MP108 were selected for mixed culture, and a significantly more favorable growth of L.plantarum AUH2103 in oligosaccharide MRS medium(especially fructooligosaccharides MRS)was found compared with normal MRS.When fructooligosaccharides was the sole carbon source,L.plantarum AUH2103 had higher ratio of viable count to L.rhamnosus MP108 of 41.Addition of oligosaccha-rides significantly shortened the renneting time and increased the titration acidity of fermented milk of L.plantarum AUH2103 and L.rhamnosus MP108.The viable count of L.plantarum AUH2103 in fermented milk with oligosaccharide was also significantly higher than that of L.rhamnosus MP108.The results indicated that the addition of oligosaccharides could significantly improve the growth of L.plantarum AUH2103 when it was co-cultured with L.rhamnosus MP108.Oligo-saccharides also had selective promotion effect on different probiotics. This study provides data to support the screening of oligosaccharide and probiotic combinations.
