Analysis of heterosis pattern of stacked Chinese cabbage
The small parent X large parent is a commonly adopted mating pattern among stacked Chinese cabbage F1 hy-brid varieties, but the theoretical study of this breeding pattern has not been reported. In this study, the patterns of het-erosis and combining ability were analyzed for 6 basic traits in breeding. The results showed that:the small parents and large parents exhibited a significant differences in terms of harvest time and yield-related traits(gross weight and net weight),and as a result, the two types of parents respectively played key roles in shortening the harvest time and increas-ing the yield in the hybrid generation in the small parent X large parent mating pattern. The hybrid generation generally possessed positive specific combining ability in gross and net weights, which further increased the yield of the hybrid gen-eration.Results of this study will help to understand the genetic basis for the formation of heterosis pattern in stacked Chinese cabbage.
