Digital Trade's Role in Promoting Domestic Market Integration
This study examines the theoretical implications and developmental trajectories of digital trade, analyzing how it facilitates the construction of a unified national market through the empowerment of market integration.Within a theoretical framework, empirical data is used to test the hypotheses. The research findings indicate that digital trade significantly accelerates the process of market integration. This effect is more pronounced in cities with larger consumer bases, more open business environments, higher levels of innovation, and those within the Yangtze River Delta region.Meanwhile, digital trade promotes market integration by reducing information costs, fostering market competition, and enhancing total factor productivity.By exploring the impact of digital trade on market integration from both theoretical and empirical perspectives, this study elucidates the intrinsic connection between market integration and the construction of a unified national market. It provides theoretical foundations and policy implications for advancing Chinese-style modernization.
