Experimental Study on Friction and Wear Properties of Pantograph-Catenary Systems under High and Low Humidity Conditions
In order to explore the friction and wear performance of metro rigid contact wire-pantograph systems under different humidity conditions, the metal-impregnated carbon strips and the copper-silver alloy contact wires, commonly used in pantograph-catenary systems, are used as the test materials, and the high-speed current-carrying friction and wear testing machine is employed to simulate the operation of the metro rigid contact wire-pantograph systems. The changes of wear rate, friction coefficient, average arc energy and vibration acceleration of metal-impregnated carbon strips at common operating speeds of metro are studied when the ambient relative humidity is 20%,40%and 60%,respectively.The results show that in the low humidity(20%)environment,the friction between the carbon strips and the contact line is similar to dry friction, and the carbon strips abrasive particles will damage the surface of the contact line and form a furrow. In the high humidity(60%)environment,water molecules in the air will lubricate the contact surface, reducing the friction coefficient between the contact pairs, and expands the flow area of the current circuit, which reduces the vibration amplitude between the contact pairs.
