Experimental Research on Operating 20,000-Tonne Heavy-Haul Trains under the Existing Line Conditions of Xinshuo Railway
Operating 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains is an effective method for increasing freight volume and an inevitable trend for development. To study the feasibility of operating a 20,000-tonne heavy-haul train on the existing line conditions of the Xinshuo heavy-haul railway, field tests are conducted on typical line sections, including straight lines and curves. Finally,by installing sensors at the track to measure the vibration acceleration of the steel rails and sleepers, steel rail displacement, and wheel-rail interaction forces, the safety evaluation of the train passing through test sections is performed. The test results show that all indicators of the test are within the safety limits, confirming that the existing line conditions of the Xinshuo Railway meet the requirements for the safe operation of 20,000-tonne heavy-haul trains. When the train passes through the test section, the vertical accelerations of the steel rails and sleepers are 48.98g and 9.19g,the maximum vertical and lateral displacements of the steel rails are 0.46 mm and 0.63 mm,the maximum values of the wheel-rail vertical and lateral forces are 178.14 kN and 47.08 kN,the maximum derailment coefficients of locomotives and freight cars are 0.37 and 0.35,and the maximum wheel load reduction rate is 0.25.
