A Study on the Impact of Online Teaching Organizational Forms on Students'Perceived Teacher Support
The physical separation between educators and learners raises challenges of online teaching, and how to maximize the perceived teacher support in this environment is an unresolved issue. This paper mainly ex-plores the environmental factors that influence students'perceived teacher support. This research considered sev-eral key factors in the online teaching environment:online teaching methods, the familiarity level of the teacher, and the duration of a single lesson. The study was based on a survey with 36,959 participants. In terms of online teaching methods, bichronous formats yield the highest levels of perceived teacher support, succeeded by syn-chronous and then asynchronous formats. At the same time,in terms of teacher familiarity, the perceived teacher support is significantly better when the teacher is familiar to the student than when the teacher is unfamiliar.Last-ly,for course duration,in most cases, the optimal length for a single lesson is between 31 to 45 minutes, but high school students prefer courses less than 30 minutes.
