Children's Insight into Chinese Textbooks in the Late Qing Dynasty and Early Republic of China——On the Basis of an Analysis of 18 sets of 49 textbooks from 1903 to 1918
The compiling idea of Chinese textbooks is the epitome of the historical development and the needs of the times,which is both passive constraint and active mapping.The academic circle generally lo-cates the starting point of the primary school Chinese textbooks with the attributes of child-oriented view of children in the new culture movement,and the beginning of the textbook selection of children's literature works in the new school system.Taking 18 sets of 49 textbooks from 1903 to 1918 as an example,the text analysis shows that traces of modem progressive views on children can be found in the detailed rules and teaching guidelines in the curriculum standards,the compilation of summaries in the editorial outline and the purpose of text selection.Moreover,the selected articles of children's literature occupy a relatively high pro-portion,and the length and number of words is suitable for the threshold of children's acceptance,the theme content is related to children's life and fun games,and the value orientation highlights the child-oriented fea-tures and educational implications.Therefore,it can be judged that Chinese textbooks in primary schools carry the genes of child-oriented view of children on the day of birth,and have a close relationship with chil-dren's literature.In the new era,textbooks should be compiled based on core qualities and adhere to children-centered view of children.
