The Evaluation and Promotion Suggestions for the Sustainability of Kindergarten Development in China
The sustainable development of kindergartens is a fundamental support for the sustainable de-velopment of preschool education.Based on the theory of sustainable development systems, after text analyz-ing,theoretical constructing, expert consulting, and pilot testing,an evaluation indicator system for the sus-tainability of kindergarten development was constructed, focusing on innovation, cooperation, and internation-alization.The system was used to evaluate the sustainability level of kindergarten development across China. The study found that the overall level is moderate,in which the levels of cooperation and internationalization are strong, but the level of innovation is more average. There are significant regional and institutional differ-ences in the sustainability of kindergartens development.Regionally, the overall level of sustainability and the level of innovation, cooperation and internationalization are significantly higher in the eastern region than those in the western and northeastern regions, and the overall level of sustainability and the level of coopera-tion of kindergarten development in the central region are significantly higher than that in the northeastern re-gion.The overall level of sustainability and the level of innovation of kindergarten development in urban ar-eas are significantly higher than those in town and rural areas. In terms of location, the levels of innovation and cooperation in public kindergartens are significantly higher than those in private ones, while the level of internationalization is generally lower than that in private ones.To enhance the sustainability of kindergartens development in our country,it is essential to deepen reforms and enhance the internal driving force behind kindergarten development, build collaborative relationships and optimize the external environment for kinder-garten development, and broaden vision to guide kindergartens toward the future and the world.
