The Trend of Total Cloud Amount over Middle and East of China during 1985-2006
Based on the surface observation data, the trend, mutation and cycle of total cloud amount over middle and east of China were analyzed by using EOF decomposition, Curve fitting, Mann-Kendall Mutagenicity test and Wavelet analysis methods. Total cloud amount gradually decreases from the southwest to the northeast of China. However, the spatial distribution of the standard deviation of annual total cloud are different. It presents zonal distribution from northeast to southwest and is similar to the distribution of the rain belt. Annual average of total cloud amount consistently reduces since 1985, and the downward trend is faster in northern China and is relatively slower in Sichuan Basin. The total cloud amounts of northern China and Sichuan Basin are accelerated reduced from 1990. Cycles of total cloud are different from area to area in middle and east of China.
