Regional Differences of High Temperature Days in Eastern China from 1961 to 2022
Based on the daily maximum temperature data of 437 national meteorological observation stations in eastern China from May to October from 1961 to 2022,the high temperature regions in South China,Yangtze River,Huanghuai and North China were divided by correlation coefficient analysis method, and the spatiotemporal variation characteristics of regional high temperature days in different regions and the related atmospheric circulation characteristics were compared and analyzed by means of least square method and synthetic analysis. The results showed that the number of high temperature days in South China,Yangtze River and North China exhibited an increasing trend during 1961-2022,and the increase trend in South China was the most significant. In South China, high temperature started the earliest and ended the latest, and the initial time ad-vanced but the end time delayed. It had the highest number of sustained high temperature events. The number of high tempera-ture days occurred most in the Yangtze River basin, with an annual average of 37.94 days. The duration of high temperature e-vents in the Yangtze River Basin was the longest, and the initial time of high temperature advanced and the end time delayed. The continuous high temperature events began in June and ended in August over Huanghuai regions. The average annual high temperature days in the region were 19.58 days, and the increasing trend of the regional high temperature days was not signifi-cant.High temperature in North China mainly occurred in June and July. The number of high temperature days in South China and Yangtze River basin was significantly affected by the strengthening and westward extension of the Western Pacific Subtrop-ical High, while the influence of the continental high over Huanghuai and North China was more significant.
