Effects of Land Use Patterns on Carbon Emission in Jiangxi Province
This study is based on satellite dataset from 1995 to 2020 to interpret the annual land use and cover change in Jiangxi Province of China, and analyzed the changes of carbon sources/sinks,and carbon emissions based on land use types and energy consumption data the carbon emission coefficient method, and the carbon emission effects were evaluated using carbon footprint and ecological carbon carrying capacity. The results showed that:l)The land use change types in Jiangxi Province from 1995 to 2020 showed a significant increase in the area of urban and rural construction land, while the changes in other land use types were relatively small;2)The net carbon emissions in Jiangxi Province show a significant growth trend, with a nearly three fold increase in the late stage compared to the early stage of the study. For every 1 km2 increase in urban and rural construction land area,1.308 tons of carbon sources will be added, while for every 1 km2 increase in forest land, only 0.006 tons of carbon sinks will be added. The net carbon emissions in central and southern Jiangxi are lower than those in northern Jiangxi;3)The carbon footprint of Jiangxi Province is growing rapidly, and the change in carbon ecological carrying capacity is slow, leading to a sig-nificant increase in ecological deficit. The ecological deficit effect in southern and central Jiangxi is slightly lighter than that in northern Jiangxi. This study reveals the impact of changes in land use patterns on carbon emissions in Jiangxi Province, and provides some useful reference for nationwide carbon reduction and ecological protection.
