From ZHU Xi's Research on The Book of Songs to YANG Weizhen'Yuefu Poetry Creation——The Trend of Yuefu Poetry Creation Towards Folk
For a long time,the research on ZHU Xi's poetics has mainly focused on abolishing the"big preface"and"small preface"in The Book of Songs and explaining the meaning of poetry,so as to restore the original features of The Book of Songs,especially the part of The Odes of the States.In recent years,the academic circles have questioned ZHU Xi's idea of"discovering the most correct true value of literature"in his study of The Book of Songs,but there have been still some inaccura-cies or incompleteness about how ZHU Xi got rid of the preface of The Book of Songs and constructed his study of The Book of Songs.Because of the inaccuracy and incompleteness of this kind of under-standing,it is difficult to make an accurate understanding and evaluation of ZHU Xi's influence on the study of The Book of Songs.On the whole,ZHU Xi drew on previous and contemporary studies of The Book of Songs,especially those of ZHENG Qiao and WU Yu,based on the cultivation formula of his metaphysical temperament theory,with"thinking without bias"as the theoretical basis and prem-ise,integrated and reinterpreted the important arguments of The Book of Songs as music song,the theory of erotic poetry and Fu Bi Xing,etc.,and set up his"poetry"learning system.ZHU Xi's study of poetry opened the way between The Book of Songs and Yuefu on folk songs and general lite-rati creation,which was the foundation of ZHU Xi's poetry study and literary thought.Although ZHU Xi's poetic teaching of"thinking without bias"covered folk songs in concept,it allowed the exist-ence of folk songs and even so-called lewd poems because of its emphasis on the cultivation of per-sonal temperament.Accordingly,folk songs has won space for development under this almost para-doxical logic.ZHU Xi's study of"Ye Yun,"because of its evidence of dialects,was also connecting with folk songs.This concept had great influence on Yuefu poetry in the Yuan Dynasty,which was re-flected in YANG Weizhen's"Iron Cliff Style"Yuefu concept and creation.
