"Central Work"in Local Governance:Academic Progress and Theoretical Debate
"Central work"as an academic conceptdoes not refer to a specific central work or its con-tent and method, but refers to a specific working system and mechanism, that is,based on the classifi-cation of the importance and urgency of the work, focusing major governance resources on critical ar-eas and driving the working system and working style which various governance entities advance in coordination. As a governance practice with Chinese characteristics,"central work"has been highly focused on by domestic academic circles in the past 10 years, from the concept construction to the explanation of the generation mechanism, and then to the analysis of its actual effect, its research ori-entation expands increasingly, and its systematic academic work has been carried out. However,as an academic topic worthy of in-depth study, its existing research still has shortcomings such as inade-quate conceptual construction, divergent description and interpretation of institutional mechanisms and effects, etc.Accordingly, systematic theoretical contributions need to be further improved. The follow-up research should strengthen the theoretical consciousness, strive to expand horizons and top-ics of theory and experience, improve the quality and quantity of empirical data, and actively apply multiple research methods.
