The Analyses for Spring Foraging Habitat Selection of Black Bear (Ursus.thibetanus)in Guangxi Yuanbaoshan Nature Reserve
From December 2008 to March 2009, the black bear's foraging habitat character in Yuanbaoshan Nature Reserve of Guangxi were studied. In fieldwork, 16 ecological factors were considered and 82 20 mx 20 m samples were collected, 29 compared samples were also maded. Principal components analyses results showed that:the main factors of black bear foraging habitat characteristics were water distance, elevation, and shrub density; secondary factors were food abundance factor(tree diameter, tree density, tree distance, shrub distance)、 geographical factors (aspect, slope position, ratio of slope)、 interference factors(tree stump density, tree stump distance, log distance, distance to human disturbance)、 and micro-habitat factors(shelter of wind, canopy density). Black bear habitat preference choose: water source distance、 elevation tree density、 shrub density、 distance to human disturbance、canopy density、 tree distance and shrub distance. As human activity increase, interference factors(tree stump density, tree stump distance, log distance, distance to human disturbance) were important factors influence black bear habitat selection.
