A study on the release of Scleroderma guani for controlling Semanotus bifasciatus
[Objective]To evaluate the control effect of Sclerodermus guani on Semanotus bifasciatus, the S.guani female adults were released on the S.bifasciatus larvae in forests.[Method]The control effect of S.guani on Semanotus bifasciatus Motschulsky was measured by indoor and interforest experiments.[Result]The results showed that the effect of releasing tubifex wasps to control the first instar larvae of S.bifasciatus was correlated with the amount of release, and the parasitism rate of S.bifasciatus larvae increased with the increase of the amount of release. The release of S.guani should be carried out during early June to late June in Weifang area to release the best effect of bees, with the passage of time reducing the effectiveness of prevention, and the later the releasing time, the worse the effects. The corrected parasitism rates could reach to 50.93%-54.53%,when mass release of S.guani insects at the quantity of 10000 per hm2 into a cypress forest in Qingzhou.[Conclusion]The results show that the release of S.guani can effectively inhibit the damage of the S.bifasciatus, and can be promoted as an important measures for the biological control of the S.bifasciatus.
