Application of RNA interference technology in the gene function and control of Bemisia tabaci
Bemisia tabaci is a worldwide vegetable pest that can transmit a variety of plant viruses, affecting plant growth and development, and leading to the decrease of vegetable production. The control of whitefly is dominated by chemical control. However, the excessive use of insecticides has led to the increasing resistance of whitefly, and the demand for green control is increasing.RNA interference(RNAi)is a technology that specifically silences target genes and is widely used in gene function research and green control in insects. This paper introduces the principle of RNAi and the research on the gene function of RNAi in whitefly, summarizes the application of RNAi in the prevention and control of whitefly and the application status of RNA pesticides. It provides a reference for the research on new targets of whitefly and the RNA pesticide development for the prevention and control of whitefly.
