Research advances in the mechanism of culm swelling in Zizania latifolia
As the second largest aquatic vegetable in China,Zizania latifolia is formed by the infection of Zizania latifolia by Ustilago esculenta, which causes its stem to expand and produce fleshy stems. This process is affected by many factors. This paper primarily examined the mechanism underlying the culm-swelling of Zizania latifolia, including the differential regulation of plant hormones, the function and role of sugar metabolites and peroxidase activity in the process of Zizania latifolia inoculation.3-indoleacetic acid(IAA)played an important role in the expansion process of Zizania latifolia, which was helpful to the culm-swelling of Zizania latifolia.Carbohydrate assimilates also played an important role in the development of Zizania latifolia stems.Peroxidase could not only effectively scavenge reactive oxygen species in vivo, but also play an important regulatory role in the formation of Zizania latifolia. Finally, the research direction and the mechanism of culm-swelling in Zizania latifolia were explored.
