Strength Analysis of Elded Joints of 2195 Aluminum-Lithium Alloy Rocket Tank
In order to determine the fatigue life of the friction stir welding(FSW)welded joints of the rocket tank and complete the fatigue analysis of the tank structure, the static and the normal fatigue tests on the standard specimens of 2195 aluminum-lithium and FSW welded joints were carried out to abtain the mechanical properties of tensile strength of the base metal and the FSW welded joint etc.,and the S-N curve was drawn concurrently.Based on the test data, the static analysis of the tank was conducted by ABAQUS software, and the fatigue life of the tank model under the given load was estimated with the NCODE software. The results show that the most severe stress position is at the weld seam of cylinder section, and the first failure position occures at the junction of the horizontal and vertical welds of the cylinder section. On the basis of the fatigue life analysis, the ABAQUS-FRANC3D software co-simulation is applied to insert corner cracks at the failure position of the weld and simulate the three-dimensional crack propagation. When the crack expands into a penetrating crack, the calculation is terminated. The calculated stress intensity factor and crack propagation life of three-dimensional surface cracks provide thinking for evaluating the damage tolerance of the tank.
