Japan is the ESD initiative country and one of the countries actively promoting ESD policies and practices.The development of Japanese primary and secondary ESD curricula is aimed at cultivating the abilities and qualities required of"creators of a sustainable society";the content of the curricula focuses on combining the concept of ESD with the actual situation of schools,students and society;the curriculum organization can be divided into subject-integrated mode,interdisciplinary independent mode,mixed mode,etc.;the process of curriculum implementation presents the characteristics of multiple roles of teachers and students,integrated teaching content,diversified teaching methods and diversified collaborative subjects,etc.;and the evaluation of the curriculum is based on the cultivation objectives,with the growth and development of students at the center,and formative evaluation as the main evaluation method.
