As English Curriculum Standard of General High School points out,the exploration of the thematic meaning is the most important part of students'language study,influencing students'understanding of texts,thoughts and the effects of language learning.However,some problems exist in the high school English unit writing teaching such as rigid imitation of model compositions,absence of the thematic meaning,and neglecting the development of students'core literacy.To address the problems,it is necessary to focus on the thematic meaning,create the thematic context,guide students to understand the thematic meaning and cultivate students'English core literacy.
