This paper confronts the current teaching situation of whole-book reading for front-line Chinese language teachers and common issues encountered when incorporating project-based learning into whole-book reading instruction. It argues for the necessity of integrating project-based learning into the teaching of whole-book reading.Taking the design and implementation of the reading instruction for"Robinson Crusoe"as an example, this paper constructs a teaching design model for whole-book reading based on project-based learning and explores the operational path for its effective implementation. This includes five components:refining core concepts, designing driving tasks, creating interactive domains, engaging in sustained inquiry, and implementing diverse evaluations. The aim is to provide front-line teachers with breakthrough directions and optimization strategies for whole-book reading instruction.
