Research Progress of Phytoremediation in Rare Earth Tail mines in Southern China
The rare earth mining has caused damage to the ecological environment, resulting in a large amount of tailings waste land and serious environmental problems. This article provided an overview of the current situation and causes of pollution in rare earth tailings mining areas in southern China. It reviewed the research progress in physical, chemical, microbial, and genetically modified technologies for soil remediation in mines. It pointed out that in the ecological remediation process of rare earth tailings, the selection of dominant plant remediation species and soil improvement were key factors.Future research should focus on the interaction between plants,REEs,microorganisms, and soil systems, screening of REEs enriched plants and economic crops in rare earth mining areas, and the development of new soil amendments.
