A Brief Account of Guangdong Taishan Hakka Dialect
The Hakkas of Taishan,Guangdong immigrated from the eastern Guangdong area in the early years of Kangxi.During the Xianfeng and Tongzhi years,the Hakkas who were scattered in Taishan retreated to the Chixi Peninsula,and the population was only one-tenth.Taishan Hakka dialect has retained the characteristics of"Xingmei"and"New Hakka dialect".In terms of pronunciation,vocabulary,and grammar,they are in line with Meixian and Xingning Hakka dialects.This article reports the basic appearance and characteristics of the Hakka dialect of Taishan.
