Research advances in imaging study of disc malposition of temporomandibular joint
Disc displacement of temporomandibular joint is one of the most frequent temporomandibular joint disorder subtypes.Displacement of the disc disrupts the original normal disc-condylar contact and interferes with condylar sliding during mandibular movement, resulting in a number of clinical complaints.CT,MRI,and ultrasound imaging all give valuable information for the diagnosis and treatment evaluation of articular disc displacement. As a result, the purpose of this paper is to provide a systematic review on the imaging characteristics and imaging application of disc displacement of temporomandibular joint, investigate the role of different imaging examinations in its diagnosis and provide a specific direction for its diagnosis, prevention, and treatment.
