It has differences between the subjective and objective photometric evaluations for LEDs due to their unique spectral distributions.Subjective photometric evaluation is the perception of the human eyes, which is difficult to got.A method for calculating subjective illuminance based on color temperature and objective illuminance was proposed in this study.20 LEDs of the same model but different color temperatures for automotive lighting were selected, and their normalized spectral distributions were measured with a spectrometer, and then the color temperatures of these light sources were obtained. Then, the subjective illuminance of LED lamps was measured in the lab with the flick method. The objective illuminance was measured with an illuminance meter. Finally, the relationships among the color temperature, the subjective and objective illuminance were fitted. It has shown that the subjective illuminance of high color temperature LED was generally higher than the objective brightness, and the higher the color temperature, the greater the difference. The subjective illuminance can be calculated with color temperature and objective illuminance accurately. This study was of great significance for the evaluation of vehicle LED lighting and display.
