Analysis of proficiency tests results and quality control of microbial testing ability in cosmetics
To strengthen the quality control of the laboratory and improve the level of microbiological testing in cosmetics,in 2023,the laboratory participated in two proficiency tests organized by the National Institute for Food and Drug Control(NIFDC)on the enumeration of colony counts in cosmetics(NIFDC-PT-441)and the detection of Staphylococcus aureus in cosmetics(NIFDC-PT-451).The two projects were tested according to the instructions and the Cosmetics Safety Techni-cal Specifications(2015 version),and the suspected colonies isolated in the qualitative projects were identified using API reagent kits. The results showed that the Z values of two samples in the colony count were less than 2,and sample TC04510179 was detected in the Staphylococcus aureus test, while sample TC04510455 was not detected but contained oth-er microorganisms, which were identified as Staphylococcus xylosus by API.The results of both proficiency tests were satis-factory.The results of the proficiency test indicate that the quality control of the laboratory is good, and it can use the Cosmetics Safety Technical Specifications(2015 version)to carry out microbial testing for cosmetics. At the same time,by analyzing the results of proficiency testing, the laboratory can identify risk points in quality control and continuously improve the inspection and testing capabilities of grassroots inspection institutions.
