Research on border health quarantine of radioactive contamination in ballast water of international navigating vessels
Each year,hundreds of millions of tons of ballast water from foreign vessels are discharged into our country's waters,posing threats to the marine environment and public health safety.In the context of Japan's discharge of nuclear-con-taminated water into the sea,how to strengthen quarantine supervision on radioactive contamination in ballast water of inter-national navigating vessels,build a strong quarantine defense at the national gate and prevent public health risks have be-come a new challenge for customs health quarantine management.This paper,considering the current status of customs quarantine supervision of ballast water and the associated institutional,regulatory,technological and awareness challenges,pro-poses strategic countermeasures and suggestions to strengthen quarantine supervision of radioactive contamination in ballast water,aiming to fortify the customs quarantine defense line and mitigate public health risks.
