Does the Provincial Normal Universities Focus on the Main Responsibility of Normal Education—Based on the Survey of 42 Provincial Normal Universities
Ensuring that normal colleges continue to focus on teacher education is the national strategy for revitalizing teacher education in the new era.By analyzing data on the orientation of running university,major construction,and enrollment structure of provincial normal universities,the research shows that most provincial normal universities can return to the"normal"orientation of running university,actively participate in teacher professional certification,and gradually increase the enrollment ratio of normal students,and focus on the main responsibility of normal education has become their consensus.But at the same time,provincial normal universities still face great institutional resistance in adjusting their orienta-tion of running universities;the marginalization of the teacher profession still exists;the main role of teacher training is not yet prominent;and the regional development of teacher education is uneven.Based on this,all stakeholders should speed up the construction of a diversified evaluation system,gradually balance the professional layout,and actively undertake the main business of teacher education,thereby forming a combination to jointly promote the high-quality development of teacher education in China.
